Meet Christina, founder of Polyglot
Christina Campisi speaks French, Spanish, some Italian and Portuguese. She has degrees in French-language education, cultural anthropology and political science.
Christina first imagined Polyglot when she was in Brazil for her doctoral research to study culture and education among youth in a favela in Rio de Janeiro. While trying to meet locals to learn more about the city and the culture, she wasn't sure how to approach people. One day, sitting on Ipanema Beach, she saw a woman reading Vogue Brazil. Christina went to buy a copy of the magazine, returned to the beach, read the headlines and struck up a conversation. “So, I hear Madonna is dating a carioca?” And the conversation unfolded from there.
