Italian
Italian is
spoken by 60 million native speakers, and by more than 100-120 million
speakers in the world. Italian is mostly spoken in Europe, mainly
in Italy and in Switzerland. Italian is also official in Vatican,
Malta, and some parts of Croatia. It is also spoken in parts of
Brazil, Monaco, Nice, Corsica, and Lybia. Italian is also an official
language in many international organizations such as the European
Union.
In Europe,
Italian is mainly spoken in Italy, San Marino, and Switzerland.
It is also spoken in Vatican, Monaco, Malta, Corsica, Nice, Slovenia,
Albania, and Croatia.
In the Americas,
Italian is largely spoken in Brazil, Argentina, the United States
(primarily in Boston, Chicago, Miami, New York City, and Philadelphia),
Canada (mainly in Montreal and Toronto), and Uruguay.
In
Africa, Italian used to be spoken in Somalia, Ethipia,
and Eritrea, but today it is very rarely spoken.
In Australia,
Italian is however spoken by a large group of people, as a result
of the great number of immigrants. In fact, Italian is the second-most
spoken language after English.
Italian is
a very melodic language, due to its richness in vowels. |
